IZZA IS A HIDDEN GEM OF AN APARTMENT, named in honour of the strong, neighbourly and respected berber woman who’s ancient home on this site provides our inspiration. Once opened, you are greeted by an impressive double-storey apartment which deftly mixes tradition and modernity to provide a stunning, open living space.

Dalla Izzab. C. 1850
Dalla Izza is the name of the original owner of a traditional berber house on this site in the 1890s. Well-known and respected in the neighbourhood for her hospitality, wisdom and generosity, it is her spirit and that of her neighbours that our re-imagined riad is built upon.

The three elements
A traditional Moroccan Riad should have three elements; shade (for reflection), sky (for a view of the heavens) and water (to cleanse the spirit).
Onwards and upwards.
Once upstairs, enjoy views down upon the open-plan lounge-space below. Recline in the king-sized olive green bed set within a ziggurat-shaped bedhead made from exotic Moroccan hardwood. The dark wood wall-panelling continues to provide a floor to ceiling library well-stocked with fascinating objets d’art, books and other curiosities. Indoor planters with tropical planting provide division, privacy and drama.
Meticulous craftsmanship.
Hand-made by local Artisans, bespoke traditional Moroccan wardrobes take custodianship of your clothes and personal belongings.
The sounds of silence.
The relentless repetition of rippling water soothes mind, body, and soul, inviting you to close your eyes and lose yourself in its peaceful embrace.
